29TH NOVEMBER 2022 THE 55TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WITHDRAWAL FROM ADEN VISIT OF

HRH THE PRINCESS ROYAL

The Gloucestershire Branch were privileged to have the honour of The Princess Royal attending the significant Anniversary event to remember the 29th November 1967.

Over seventy members attended the church service followed by lunch. The service was conducted by Branch Padre The Reverend Brian Woollaston, Priest in charge St Katherine’s Church The Reverend Sarah Todd and the former Vicar of Christchurch, Steamer Point Aden, The Reverend Peter Crooks.

Following the Service Branch President Chris Price escorted HRH The Princess Royal to the Robinswood Hotel where he introduced HRH to key hotel staff. HRH The Princess Royal met Geoff Giles, National Vice-Chairman and Denis  Sparrow, Branch historian who showed HRH his display of Aden and the Protectorate. Members of the Aden Veterans Association, who had served in Aden, were then introduced to HRH The Princess Royal. HRH spent time talking with members before being piped into the luncheon by Piper John Shields.
